Pokemon GO players are busy hunting down Groudon this week, but it is very likely that a new batch of activities is about to arrive with the inevitable Christmas holiday event. Official details about Niantic’s plans for the end of December haven’t been released yet, but a massive datamine just revealed some spoilers about what might be under the tree for Pokemon GO players this year.
The datamine included some incredibly exciting news about a new way to catch Pokemon, more information about upcoming Gen 3 arrivals, and an early look at some holiday gift boxes that will likely be added to the game in the next week, or so.
There was no information about what each box will contain or how players can acquire them, but the data did include assets of what each wrapped gift looks like. Check them out for yourself…
One strange thing about these gifts is that there are six of them. Most events that include special bundles for purchase only have three options in the shop. This has led some players to speculate that these holiday or New Year’s gifts won’t be for sale in the same way that gifts have during previous events.
With Christmas just a few days away, it seems very likely that an official announcement from Niantic will be arriving any day now. Until then, the community can keep theorizing about what is in each box and which one will have the highest value.
Good luck out there, trainers!
