Nintendo is introducing Super Mario Odyssey-themed content to Super Mario Run players for a limited time, as part of a crossover promotional campaign.
For the next few weeks and until the end of November, Super Mario Run will feature DLC statues based on characters from Super Mario Odyssey. The current item up for grabs is the Mario Wedding Statue, which can be obtained simply by logging in anytime before 11pm Pacific on November 14th. Many will recognize this as one of the three wedding amiibos that released alongside Super Mario Odyssey. As it turns out, the other two Super Mario Odyssey wedding amiibos are also a part of this campaign.
Next on the schedule is a Pauline statue, which will be available from November 14th to 19th. This is the new, modern Pauline that debuted in Super Mario Odyssey and has been featured in many of the game’s commercials. Pauline is then followed by a Bowser wedding statue from November 19th to the 23rd, and the campaign ends with a Peach wedding statue that will be available in the game from November 23rd to the 27th.
It’s true that the momentum of Super Mario Run has slowed since its release, but Nintendo is still keeping the game updated with new features to keep people playing. Princess Daisy was added in September, along with a new game mode called Remix 10, and an entirely new world. Remix 10 has players running through remixed versions of existing Super Mario Run stages, and is a requirement for unlocking Princess Daisy. The new world, called World Star, features nine new levels and unlocks after completing worlds one through six.
As for Super Mario Odyssey, the momentum hasn’t quite yet slowed down just yet. Last week it was reported that Super Mario Odyssey became the fastest-selling Mario game in the US – a tremendous feat. Nintendo has been basking in positive reviews from gaming news outlets from around the globe, many of which have given the game perfect scores.
Super Mario Run is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
