It’s time once again to compete for fabulous prizes in Destiny 2, as the Faction Rally has returned to the Tower. This is the second round for the event since the game’s launch, and the first time it will be available on PC. New rewards are up for grabs for those who pledge their loyalties, but gear from last month’s Rally will also be available to those who missed them.
This is good news for Destiny 2 players who wanted another shot, but not ideal for those who already claimed last month’s prizes. The forums are already ablaze with players who are worried about the loot pool being too overcrowded with older items. The issue being that these players will likely receive repeats of gear they already have, which takes much of the joy out of the experience. Their only recourse is to pledge to a different Faction to guarantee new gear, but that certainly puts players in a predicament if they don’t like what other Factions are offering.
Faction Rally arrived with the Weekly Reset, along with a new Nightfall, Flashpoint, and various other challenges. This month’s event follows the same rules: pledge to a Faction, compete by accumulating tokens through activities, and then claim the exclusive weapon. Like before, the Faction that wins earns a significant discount on the featured weapon.
This time around, New Monarchy is offering a sword, Future War Cult has a fusion rifle, and Dead Orbit will have a grenade launcher up for sale. In addition to some new stock, there are also alterations to the amount of tokens awarded to players. Normal Strikes now reward more Faction Rally tokens, between 5 and 9 at a time. This is up from the 3 to 7 it originally dropped. The number of tokens rewarded for Heroic Public Events has been decreased to 5, which down from 8. Furthermore, opening chests will now be the only way to earn token drops in Lost Sectors. These changes were done to encourage players to participate in Strikes, as opposed to farming Heroic Public Events and Lost Sectors.
