Destiny 2 Nerfs Faction Rally Token Farming Method

Destiny 2 Nerfs Faction Rally Token Farming Method

Say what you will about Bungie as a developer, but if there is one thing the studio is good about it’s removing exploits. Sometimes those work to the benefit of other players, like taking out the emote that lets people glitch through walls, while other times it makes the loot grind a little more intense. That’s just what the studio did ahead of the second Faction Rally in Destiny 2.

Any players that are active in the Destiny 2 community and did a fair share of Faction Rally loot grinding are well aware of the ideal farming method. Load into Titan, head to The Rig section of the destination, run through the Lost Sector shooting all of the supply drops, and simultaneously destroy the last one and die. If done correctly, the player should reload right outside the Lost Sector and the supply drops will have respawned.

It was the most efficient method to farm Faction Rally tokens since every supply drop rewarded 1 token. But for the second Faction Rally, Bungie has removed this method.

As part of the developer’s weekly update, Bungie revealed a few changes to the way Faction Rally works. The devs buffed token drops for Strikes and lowered them for Public Events, but they also made it so supply drops no longer reward tokens. Instead, the Lost Sector chest will be the only source of Faction Rally tokens, and it only gives out 3.

While Bungie says that this change was made in an effort to allow fireteams to earn tokens as a group (only the player that destroyed a supply drop got a token), it seems more like a nerf to the best farming method. Without the supply drops, players are encouraged to use different activities for their Faction Rally tokens. But keep in mind that the second best way to earn Faction Rally tokens, Public Events, has also been nerfed. Clearly, Bungie wants players to spend more time in strikes than they have been.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Bungie removed the Lost Sector farming method for Faction Rally tokens. While it was an efficient way to grind for Faction Rally loot, the farming method reduced Destiny 2 to a chore and Bungie doesn’t want that. The problem is nothing has been done to improve Faction Rally rewards, which means more grinding but less guarantees of unique loot.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
