For the past couple of years, PlayStation 4 owners have enjoyed timed-exclusivity for Call of Duty‘s expansion packs, and the same will be true for the upcoming Call of Duty: WW2. While concrete details on the first expansion for Call of Duty: WW2 still have yet to be revealed, we now know its name, PS4 release date, and a tease of what to expect.
Call of Duty: WW2‘s first expansion is called The Resistance and it will launch on January 30th as a timed-exclusive for PlayStation 4. PC and Xbox One owners can expect to see The Resistance hit their platform of choice roughly a month later, assuming Call of Duty: WW2 follows the same DLC release pattern as the previous games in the series.
Unfortunately, the new Paris Games Week trailer for Call of Duty: WW2 shows next to nothing about The Resistance DLC. However, from its title and a map shown at the end of the trailer, we can safely assume that the DLC will be about the French resistance. Markings on the map may also indicate locations that will be used as multiplayer maps in the DLC, but that’s just speculation at this time.
Map announcements, possible Zombies mode additions, and other details should come in the coming months. In the meantime, the trailer itself gives fans another glimpse at Call of Duty: WW2‘s multiplayer action, specifically on the Carentan bonus map that is exclusive to season pass holders.
Essentially serving as an advertisement for the Carentan map, the new trailer for Call of Duty: WW2 still has some worthwhile gameplay footage for those looking forward to the game. The trailer shows off one of the multiplayer’s killstreaks, with a player calling in a plane to rain bullets and explosives down on their enemies below, and shows another player torching his enemies with a flamethrower.
Anyone looking to play on the Carentan bonus map for Call of Duty: WW2 will need to buy the game’s season pass. Carentan should be available to all Call of Duty: WW2 season pass holders, but only PS4 gamers will be able to get their hands on The Resistance DLC on January 30th.
Call of Duty: WW2 will launch on November 3rd for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
