Pokemon GO now has Gen 3 Pokemon, with several Ghost-type Pokemon from that generation currently available. The Pokemon arrived as part of the game’s Halloween event, giving players something to smile about during the spookiest time of the year.
While many fans are happy with the Gen 3 Pokemon as is, fans have been even more delighted to discover that some of these new additions have shiny variations. Shiny Sableye was confirmed last week, and now confirmations that shiny Duskull can be found in the wild are now rolling in too.
There have been several confirmed reports of players successfully capturing shiny versions of the ghoulish Pokemon, with screenshots and videos being seen below. Shiny Duskull changes the primary color of the Pokemon’s body, as the shiny variation is a pale red color rather than the usual grey. Its skeleton-like face and the color of its eye appear to stay the same. Shiny Duskull can also be evolved into shiny Dusclops, and Dusclops’ body is a similar red color.

The shiny variations of Duskull and Dusclops are not quite as dramatic as shiny Sableye and are more in line with the likes of shiny Pikachu and shiny Raichu. Pikachu and Raichu’s shiny variations give the Pokemon slightly orange-tinged fur, which isn’t especially noticeable.
However, most Pokemon GO players will not mind the fact that these are small changes, as they will just be glad to catch yet another shiny Pokemon. Including shiny Magikarp and its evolution, shiny Gyarados there are still less than a dozen (confirmed) shiny Pokemon variations in the game. The total figure may be slightly higher when considering the ‘special hat’ versions of Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu, but even so, it is still slim pickings if players want a differently colored character.
The confirmation of shiny Duskull and shiny Dusclops also provides hope to fans looking for shiny variations of the other Gen 3 Pokemon too. When the Gen 3 update was datamined, Pokemon GO players did uncover sprites for shiny variations for all of the new Gen 3 characters, but with Sableye, Duskull, and Dusclops only two have been confirmed so far.
This could suggest that there are shiny variations for all of the new Pokemon, players just have to find them. As Niantic plans to introduce even more Gen 3 Pokemon this December, it could also mean that more shinies will be available for the holidays. That is incredibly exciting, but for now, the hunt is on to get shiny Duskull and Dusclops.
Pokemon GO is out now on Android and iOS.
