Cuphead has been making huge waves with its gorgeous retro-inspired visuals and challenging gameplay, and most full playthroughs of it seem to last between 8-14 hours. While each boss can be beaten in about 2 minutes on successful runs, it takes gamers quite a few tries to figure out how to beat them – which is why it’s a pretty big deal that a Twitch streamer just completed an ultra hard Cuphead playthrough in just 46 minutes.
The incredible run belongs to Frayzlo, who cleared the first world in just under 15 minutes, the second in about 10, and the third in just over 15. After spending a few minutes mopping up the final boss, what appears to be the current speedrun record has been set. Given that the game has been out for less than a week, we imagine no shortage of challengers will give Frayzlo a run for his money – especially since he did have to hit the retry button a few times along the way.
Take a look at the impressive performance below:

Gamers attempting to replicate Frayzlo’s success may want to change their control scheme for the better, an act which can make a huge difference when things get hectic on-screen. Unlike most modern games, Cuphead doesn’t have much variation in terms of difficulty. It’s regular mode is challenging, and while the simple mode is much easier, players can’t progress to each next world until they clear out the current world’s bosses on regular difficulty. In essence, those who want to complete the game most endure the same trials that everyone else does.
PC gamers who can’t push through all of Cuphead in one go should also be aware of an autosave error currently effecting the Windows 10 edition of the game. While there’s still evidently some tidying up to do, Studio MDHR has done a great job with its first ever release, and we can only hope that online co-operative gameplay gets added in the future. In the meantime, Frayzlo did say he was just testing a route through the game during his stream, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can one-up himself before someone else does.
Cuphead is currently available for PC and Xbox One.
